Recently i decided to upgrade my current G27 replacing the stock wheel rim with a custom rim designed for real world racing cars. However a challenge faced us as we progressed forward with the project ready to bolt the wheel on the main G27 base. The aftermarket wheel simply wouldn’t fit.
This is when we discovered some of the excellent products of Derek Speare Designs and one simple little product he had created that would result in all our problems vanishing. The Universal Adapter for Logitech G25 and G27 wheels offered on the Derek Speare Designs website for a small price of $29.75 is designed to allow you to bolt any aftermarket wheel with a standard 70mm bolt pattern straight onto your wheel base.
Around 4-5 days after our order was placed i received a packaged, inside was the universal adapter well packaged including the 6 stainless steel mounting screws needs for mounting your wheel to the adapter. The universal adapter for the G25/G27 is made from 19mm Acteal using precision CNC machining to provide a quality finish, as described by Derek on his online store these adapters are what can only be described as “bulletproof”.
Assembly
One you have detached the stock wheel rim from your G25 or G27 wheel base you are now ready to mount the adapter to your wheel base were previously the wheel rim was bolted to. This is simply done by lining up the 6 holes pre-drilled on the adapter and attaching them firmly with the 6 screws you removed while detaching you stock G25/G27 wheel.
Once your adapter is firmly fitter you have the freedom to attach whatever aftermarket wheel you wish as long as it uses the standard 70mm mounting pattern along with the M5-0.80 mounting screws.
Impressions & Final Thoughts
The universal adapter is a seriously useful item, installation of the adapter couldn’t be made any easier and once the adapter is mounted and your wheel is on you wouldn’t know it was there as the black material makes it appear to be a stock part of the G25 or G27 wheel base.
