Gran Turismo Sport – Images of new Tracks, Cars and a Porsche Released
A lot of new screenshots of the upcoming PS4 blockbuster Gran Turismo Sport have been released. New tracks and cars are showcased, and most importantly, a Porsche.
Blue Moon Raceway
Fictional tracks have always been one of the characteristics of the Gran Turismo series. With Blue Moon Raceway, the fictional track roster has received a new member. It is an oval track in a sunny location and has one layout only. The bright green grass and the palm trees in the infield might even suggest a tropical location.
The screenshots show the track in daylight as well as at sunset/ sunrise. Many cars are shown in action too, including prototypes and GT cars. You can view all the images right below.
The Dragon Trail International Raceway is the second fictional track showcased in the images. It is a permanent racetrack located at the foot of a mountain, by the water. Apart from twisting turns, the track also has a spectacular scenery in store for the driver. The name and the scenery might point to a location in Asia.
Again, we can see GT cars racing on the track, amongst which is a racing version of the Toyota FT-1 Concept Car, the follow-up to the legendary Toyota Supra.
The Sardegna Windmils track is the third fictional track we get to see. Unlike the two other tracks, it is a gravel track and it is located, as the name suggests, on the beautiful island of Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea.
Screenshots not only showcase various modern rally cars but also the track in the dark.
Ford Focus Gr B
Speaking of modern rally cars, one of the cars shown in the images is the group B version of the Ford Focus rally car. Since group B cars are sadly a thing of the past, this modern rally monster does not seem to exist in reality, but it does in Gran Turismo Sport. More shots of the car, including its cockpit, can be viewed below.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition Gr B
Another new car we get to see in detail is another modern group B car – the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition Gr B. Like the Focus, this exact car only exists in Gran Turismo Sport too. It seems that this will be the ideal competition for the Ford.
Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991)
Probably the most important car of the bunch is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991). Gran Turismo Sport is therefore the fifth game, after iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Gravel and Project CARS 2, to take advantage of the newly available Porsche license. Most definitely, there are more Porsche’s to come to Gran Turismo Sport.
The GT3 RS’s flat 6-cylinder engine produces 500 hp and can help the car reach 100 km/ h in only 3.3 seconds. This is the most hardcore, track-focused 911 you can get.
If you want to compare Polyphony’s version of the Porsche with its real-life counterpart, here are nearly the exact same shots taken in the real and the virtual GT3 RS’s cockpit. More images of the virtual car can be found below. (Source for the real image)
The European closed beta for Gran Turismo Sport is about to start this weekend. If you have not registered yet, you can do so here.
