Automaniax Porsche Online Soon To Face Legal Action?

A few months back i posted on an interesting title that had surfaced among the racing community causing great controversy surrounding the title itself, Automaniax Porsche Online.

Since then not much information was released, however members of the WMD Powered Project CARS will known of the lengthy discussion surrounding the title and what looks to be using Slightly Mad Studio’s Project Cars engine. Yesterday the Official website was launched along with a trailer for the online racing title.

With the trailer release came a large among of discussion amongst the community which quickly realized the title was using Slightly Mad Studio’s Madness engine currently used in Project CARS. This was then confirmed by Ian Bell on the WMD members forum however not in the way we expected it to turn out.

A Word from Ian Bell

We were in negotiations with Automaniax and the head of Porsche marketing some time back with a view to us creating a product for them. We delivered some work to them. The contracts were not signed, the agreed funds were not received and we stopped the work

It turns out that this free to play title could be no more as they appear to be using the Slightly Mad Studios engine and assets created for them without using a proper contract/permissions from Slightly Mad Studios or even paying any funds to Slightly Mad Studios for the work they had completed.

Hopefully we can hear more news on this issue in the coming weeks as things develop and the issue becomes known more.
