Apex Racing League Announce Official iRacing DWC Team
Our Partner site Apex Racing League recently announced their plans to form an elite iRacing Drivers World Championship team to compete in 2013.
On 1st June 2012 Apex Racing League officially announced that the team has been formed supporting up to four drivers, each with a dedicated race engineer allowing for some excellent, possibly race winning cars to be produced.
The team is aiming to enter the series in 2013, and the following people have been hired to help make this goal possible:
Darren Kirk is the founder of the Apex Racing League, and will be assuming Team Principal duties for the Apex Racing UK iRacing team. His drive and innovative style will certainly be an asset, and he will be the man tasked with managing the personnel side of the team and making sure team affairs run smoothly behind the scenes.
Aidan Hanlon will be taking over the role of Race Team Manager. He will be in charge of logistics and making sure the team is coordinated in the administrative and sporting aspects. Aidan is an Apex Racing League super-moderator, and he will be extremely important to the team going forward.
Andrew Woodhouse is joining the team as Media Manager, charged with creating original content for the Apex Racing UK site and increasing Apex Racing UK’s presence worldwide and on social media. Andrew is also the lead commentator on the Apex Racing League website, and has agreed a deal to be the team’s official Test and Development driver.
In addition to these committee appointments, Apex Racing UK driver Alex Simpson will couple his driving duties with those of Commercial Manager. He will be responsible for bringing sponsorship to the team, while assisting the Media Manager with promoting the team throughout the Sim Racing Community, and distributing the original content created on the website to various media outlets.
We are also pleased to announce the signing of veteran Race Engineer Andy Simpson, father of Alex, who will be using his considerable experience to assist his son in his quest to compete in the Drivers’ World Championship. Andy earned the nickname ‘AJ Newey’ because of his supreme car setup knowledge, and he will be an important factor for all our drivers’ ambitions.
Harry Jacks will drive alongside Alex Simpson as one of the teams elite drivers. Harry is known as Noble 2909 on the Apex Racing League and has quickly established himself to be one of the quickest drivers on the Xbox 360 side combined with incredible sportsmanship.
Jody Mills has also now been announced to feature as a driver for the team. Jody is known on the ARL as Trace, and has competed well in it’s F1 leagues for a couple of years, taking 2 race victories in it’s top tier. He will be hoping to build up his iRacing experience and work his way into an Apex Racing UK seat.
